The Learning Support Coordinator role is a new one. We started in 2020, an ominous year for new beginnings.LSCs are an add-on support to the learners, teachers, SENCOs, principals, and whānau. The role of Learning Support Coordinator is a crucial part of the Learning Support Delivery Model. We have 6 priorities within schools.
Establish a Learning Support Register, that will at some time in the future be nation-wide.
Screening and Early Identification of learning support needs.
Strengthen Early Intervention.
Flexible supports for neurodiverse children and young people.
Meeting the needs of gifted children and young people.
Improving education for children and young people at risk of disengaging.
